This optional oxygen cleaning service allows the safe use of our digital pressure gauges (up to 400 bar) in oxygen applications. All media-contacting parts of the device are thoroughly cleaned down to the sensor inlet using an acetone-based cleaner (brake cleaner) to ensure an oil- and grease-free state. The result is a professionally cleaned pressure gauge with significantly reduced risk when exposed to Oxygen.

Scope of the Oxygen Cleaning

Thorough cleaning: All internal media-contact surfaces (pressure port, sensor channel, etc.) are flushed and degreased with acetone-based brake cleaner, ensuring full oil- and grease-freedom up to the sensor.
Compatibility: This service is available exclusively for our digital pressure gauges with stainless steel sensors (piezoelectric type), rated for up to 400 bar. One cleaning service must be booked per unit (performed before shipping).
Packaging & Labeling: After cleaning, the gauge is sealed with a protective plug and labeled to indicate its oil- and grease-free condition for oxygen use.

⚠️ Safety Information (Oxygen Service)

Explosion hazard: Even minimal traces of oil or grease can cause an explosive reaction in oxygen-rich environments. Therefore, only absolutely oil- and grease-free components should be used in oxygen systems.
Sensor oil film: The pressure sensor used (piezo-thin-film with stainless steel diaphragm) contains a thin internal oil layer due to its design. Under normal use, the oil remains sealed. However, in the event of mechanical damage or extreme overloading, small amounts of oil may escape. In contact with pure oxygen, this could lead to ignition or explosion. Therefore, this limits the gauge’s suitability for oxygen, despite the cleaning.
Application limits: This cleaning significantly improves the gauge’s compatibility with oxygen, but does not replace a purpose-built oxygen-rated design.
User responsibility: Using a standard gauge with oxygen cleaning in oxygen service is at the operator’s own risk. Ensure that all system components (valves, fittings, seals, etc.) are certified for oxygen use and completely oil- and grease-free.
Handling instructions: Keep the device sealed in its packaging until final installation. Only open it immediately before installation and avoid contamination – ideally using clean, grease-free gloves. Avoid skin contact with process connections.
