Pressure transmitter for a wide range of measuring tasks
The electrical pressure transmitter enables you to measure the pressure in a very short time with relatively little effort. The transmitter is able to control various types of pressure. These include the absolute pressure, the relative pressure and the differential pressure. Density, flow and level can be easily measured in this way. These values are particularly important in the industrial sector, as they ensure that you can work in a targeted and efficient manner based on the measured values.
What is an absolute pressure measurement?
This is the most commonly used method to measure pressure in a self-contained system. This methodology comes into play, for example, if a system is to be vented using a vacuum pump. Absolute pressure measurement is also used when evacuating heat pumps or refrigeration systems.
What does relative pressure mean?
Relative pressure, which you can also measure with the pressure transmitter, is also called overpressure and refers to the pressure of a system above atmospheric pressure. It refers to the value zero relative to atmospheric air pressure - so the relative pressure readings include the weight of the atmosphere. This in turn means that relative pressure diverges with height above sea level and atmospheric conditions. In most cases, overpressure measurement is sufficient for almost all industrial applications, as all processes in a refinery or production plant take place under the same air pressure.
Differential pressure – what is that exactly?
Differential pressure marks the pressure difference between two points within a process. Our pressure transmitters are able to measure this value. A corresponding measuring device usually has two input connections. Using a pressure transmitter on this occasion means that the operator does not always have to monitor two independent pressure gauges and determine the difference between the measured values. These differential pressure measuring devices are used in many areas of industry. Here they are used as part of control systems for liquid flows, filling levels and filtration.
